The 5th Governmental day workshop in the frame of the FTTH Conference 2019 featured the CORA project concept and pilots.
The workshop brought together more than 150 stakeholders and experts in the area of digital transformation and broadband technologies from all over Europe. The participants discussed the diverse challenges that broadband deployment and digital transformation poses for local and regional authorities. Besides informing the stakeholders about policy developments at European level and identifying possible solutions for deployment practices the CORA project concept, training courses as well as the pilots were introduced and discussed. This was followed by an interactive session (round tables) on three thematic dimensions of digital divide in rural areas, namely a) fiber optic development, b) enhancing the use of internet services and c) maximizing the digital skills in rural communities.
The presentation and discussions were focused on:
- Identifying the main measures that speed up broadband development in the EU Member States.
- Identifying concrete solutions and approaches for local and regional authorities improving the uptake of internet services in their region.
- Identifying concrete solutions and approaches for local and regional authorities improving the level of digital skills among communities.
The “Governmental Day” Workshop is interactive platform for broadband stakeholders in the EU with a strong focus on addressing and tackling the challenges of the rural digital divide that occur for public local, regional and national authorities.
