Join us for an exciting event with speakers from the polytechnical university of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) and reflect on the evolution towards Value-based and Intelligent Asset Management, and the key role of Digitalisation and Servitisation to this end.
COM³ partners at CIAM host a meeting on INNOVATING ASSET MANAGEMENT THROUGH DIGITALISATION AND SERVITISATION and consist of two sessions on Wednesday, 14 December 2022.
Value-based and Intelligent Asset Management through Digital Services
This first session on 14 December from 10:15 to 12:15 will focus on value-based and intelligent asset management through digital services. Marco Macchi, Adalberto Polenghi, Irene Roda and Alessandro Ruberti from Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, Politecnico di Milano will share their insights on this topic. Alessandro Ruberti is as well director of Industrial AI and Digital Services at Applied, the IMA Group digital company.
The objective of this event is to discuss the evolution towards Value-based and Intelligent Asset Management by reflecting on the role of Digitalization and Servitization as transformative phenomena bringing about the evolution. After setting the scene in regard to the integration of a Value-based management paradigm in an industrial company, Digitalization and Servitization are discussed in the light of the advanced monitoring and prediction capabilities improving Asset Performance Management, and the path towards embedding such capabilities through Digital services in data-driven Product-Service Systems as innovative business model for Value-based Asset Performance Management. The transformation is illustrated by means of a Digitalization and Servitization roadmap due to the concrete experience of a Production Asset Manufacturer operating Asset management services in the global manufacturing context.
A Framework for Asset Sentered Servizitation based on Micro-services
The second session on 14 December from 13:30 to 15:30 will be hosted by by Alessandro Ruberti from the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, Politecnico di Milano and Director of Industrial AI and Digital Services at Applied, the IMA Group digital company.
The objective of this event is to analyze and discuss a framework that grants assets manufacturers – having the business purpose to generate and customize asset-related services – a capability to identify a servitization methodology fitting the specific conditions in which the assets operate, and the digital services required by the business and operational needs. To grant the highest possible level of configurability driven by a demanding market and to grant the feasibility of achieving optimal operating performances, a microservice architecture becomes a promising technological solution to build a data-driven Product Service System servitization framework which is enabled by (a) a proper environment where digital and physical meet, (b) the ability to listen and incorporate business and operational needs and (c) the ability to translate and deploy services into clusters of micro-services aimed to address the customization target

About CIAM
The Cluster on Industrial Asset Management (CIAM) has developed and shared knowledge about industrial asset management for 20 years. It acts as collaboration network between member companies and the University of Stavanger. A majority of the members are active in the development and operation of North Sea petroleum. And most of the companies are in the process of digitizing their activities.
Role in COM³
The main activities of CIAM in COM³ are related to the pilot activity in Rogaland county. In this pilot, CIAM focuses on enhancing the collaboration of regional enterprises with the university and its HUB structure. Building on its experience, CIAM created a easily accessible training solution for local and regional authorities, and business support organisations. Through this e-learning course, staff and developers learn how a stakeholder network works and how it can energise a rural entrepreneurial ecosystem.
