Vinje Municipality and University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) aim to support local business and facilitate business development. One of the actions of the Vinje/USN COM³ pilot is a new event series for the local business community. The first event took place on 9 March.
The idea behind the event series is to create an arena where Vinje Municipality and local businesses can meet to learn new things, network and exchange information.
At the first event, the municipality invited Marte Ruud Sandberg from the consultancy firm First House to talk about the internet of things (IoT) and the 5th generation mobile network (5G), which is about to get rolled out in Vinje and Norway. Marte presented many interesting examples of how IoT and 5G enable businesses and municipalities to innovate and increase efficiency, quality and sustainability. She also emphasised the growing vulnerability that comes with an ever more connected world.
Vinje’s mayor and head of business support were also present to share the latest news from the municipality.
The event took place at wonderful Austbø hotel in Rauland, where there participants enjoyed a delicious tapas meal ahead of the programme.
